The state of Georgia has its share of excellent post secondary institutions where students can study in the Registered Nursing ((RN) program. Once they have graduated they can then take the NCLEX examination. Once they pass the exam they are then free to apply for nursing jobs. Georgia State University

Located in Atlanta, Georgia State University happens to be the second largest college in the state. The Byrdine F. Lewis School of Nursing found at Georgia University offers ample preparation for a student to start a career as a registered nurse. The school offers a bachelor’s program as well as a variety of post-graduate nursing programs. If you enroll at the school and already have your RN license then you have the option of taking one of the fast-track programs that is available at Georgia State. This will make it possible for you to earn either your BSN or your MSN.

The curriculum includes a cross section of relevant nursing subjects such as clinical nutrition and pharmacology. At Georgia State University students can study for their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), their Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or their Doctor of Philosophy in nursing (Ph.D.).

Kennesaw State University

There is also an accelerated program for both Bachelor’s as well as Master’s degree for those individuals who enter the school already in possession of their RN license.

Georgia Perimeter College

Georgia Perimeter College is actually a college with campuses in different areas. It has locations in Clarkston, Covington, Lewiston, Decatur and Dunwoody. The Nursing Department at Georgia Perimeter College offers two year RN programs to all interested students. It is important to note that the nursing programs found here lead to an associate’s degree as opposed to a bachelor’s degree. However for those students who are already qualified to work as licensed practical nurses there are two programs they may wish to consider. There is a one year accelerated track program as well as a standard two year track program.

Attending school to become a nurse does not have to take years and years. At Georgia Perimeter it takes only two years. Students here take courses on mental health, nutrition, physiology and communicating with patients, among other subjects. The main campus for this college is found in Decatur, Georgia.
